June 12th marks only the 52nd year since the landmark Supreme Court decision Loving v. Virginia struck down all state bans on interracial marriage. The car in this picture was built 13 years before that decision. During the early years of my parents lifetimes’ my marriage to Cara would have been illegal in some parts of the US. I am in awe of the sacrifices of Mildred and Richard Loving and their willingness to change what people thought was wrong and immoral. Yet still today systematic oppression against those we think of as “different from us” continues. #LoveIsLove#DontFearOthers#Pride#Equality#LandOfTheFree
